A 45-year-old man in Haryana, India has defied the odds by establishing himself as a professional tailor despite not having arms.
Madan Lal was born without arms and faced some prejudice while growing up. In an interview, he said some schools refused to admit him because of his disability.
Fortunately, his grandparents took good care of him and when he turned 23, he decided to take up tailoring. He said: "Whatever I have to do in my life, it's just with my feet. All the stitching work I do with my feet. From cutting the cloth to measurement, I have to use my feet."
It was difficult to get training at first because many tailors thought he could not make clothes without arms. However, Lal was determined and finally found a tailor who trained him.
Within just a year, he became so good at it that he opened his own tailoring shop. Slowly but surely, he won over doubtful clients. His reputation spread quickly and his business has become a success.
