Trump 'disappointed' with China after North Korea missile test

US President Donald Trump says he is "very disappointed" with China for not doing enough to stop North Korea's weapons programme.
Writing on Twitter, he said he would not allow China to "do nothing" about the reclusive state.
His comments came a day after Pyongyang test-fired its second intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) in a month.
It later claimed the test proved that the entire US was within striking range of its weaponry.
On Saturday, two US B-1 bombers conducted exercises over the Korean peninsula with South Korean and Japanese planes.
The move was a "direct response" to the North's two ICBM launches, and "part of the continuing demonstration of ironclad US commitment to our allies", the US Pacific Command said.
"North Korea remains the most urgent threat to regional stability," Gen Terrence J O'Shaughnessy, Pacific Air Forces commander, added in a statement.

Two killed in S. Africa football stadium crush

Two people were killed in a crush of football fans on Saturday at the South African stadium that hosted the 2010 World Cup final, police and officials said.
The incident occurred at a pre-season local derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, the country’s most popular teams, both from Soweto.
“I can confirm the death of two people,” police spokeswoman Lorraine van Emmerik, told AFP.
She said several other people had also been injured when “a rolling mass of people were trying to get into the stadium” south of Johannesburg.
In a statement cited by an online football website KickOff, the match sponsors, Carling Black Label, also confirmed “two fatalities caused by blunt force trauma”.
They said one fan was critically injured and 16 other spectators suffered minor injuries.
The brewer said it was “saddened by the fatalities” from the crush caused by “a number of people who attempted to push through the stadium gates”.
Match tickets were sold out two weeks before the game.
Some local media reports suggested fake tickets had gone on sale.
“This incident is extremely unfortunate as solid security plans were put in place,” according to the Carling statement.
Public and private broadcasters cited officials saying the crush happened outside a gate at the FNB stadium which hosted the final of the World Cup, seven years ago which was won by Spain.
“A football match is supposed to be a place of entertainment. What happened at FNB Stadium is very unfortunate,” SAFA president Danny Jordaan, said in a statement.
The two worst football tragedies in South Africa involved matches between the same clubs — in 2001 when 43 people were killed, and in 1991, when the death toll was 42.
The worst football tragedy in the World occurred in 1964 in Lima during an Olympic qualifier between Peru and Argentina at the National Stadium. The official toll was 328 dead.

One dead, six wounded in Germany supermarket knife attack

Germany has been on high alert about the threat of a jihadist attack since Amri’ s rampage in Berlin , for which the Islamic State group claimed responsibility .
Jihadists have also carried out a string of random assaults in European countries using knives .
Like the Hamburg attacker, Amri was a failed asylum seeker who could not be deported for lack of documents.
The similarity between the two cases risks reopening barely healed wounds over Chancellor Angela Merkel’ s decision to allow more than million migrants into Germany since 2015 , with just two months to go until legislative elections in September.
“These criminals want to poison our free society with fear, but they will not succeed , ” mayor Scholz said.
Politicians were quick to jump on the attack, with the anti-migrant , anti-Islam and anti-European party AfD condemning the chancellor .
“Before Mrs Merkel tweets again that this is ‘ beyond comprehension’ : this has something to do with Islam . Comprehend that once and for all !”
An amateur mobile phone video published by news site Spiegel Online showed a handful of pursuers confronting the attacker, a bearded man wearing a t-shirt and jeans , amid dense city traffic.
They can be seen hurling chairs at him to keep him at a safe distance as he yells and brandishes the knife.
According to Spiegel Online , the 35 -year-old man injured during the struggle was the one who finally forced the suspect to the ground , using a pole .
The witnesses slightly hurt the attacker while they were overpowering him , before handing him over to police .
Newspaper Bild published images of the man lying handcuffed on the ground and sitting in the back seat of a police car, a bloodied white bag pulled over his head .

Man killed wife on cruise ship for 'laughing' at him

A man suspected of killing his wife while on a cruise ship in the US state of Alaska did so because "she would not stop laughing" at him, a witness says.

He was detained after security agents found blood on his hands and clothes, court documents said.

Mr Manzanares' court-appointed public defender has not commented.
The victim has been identified by US media as Kristy Manzanares, from Utah.
A witness who entered the couple's cabin before the security agents said he saw the 39-year-old suspect dragging the victim's body to the balcony, the documents said.

When he asked Mr Manzanares what had happened, the man allegedly said: "She would not stop laughing at me."

Kristy Manzanares was described by her employer, Summit Sotheby's International Realty, as being a "dedicated and loving mother who juggled her business schedule to make her children a top priority."
The FBI is investigating the case because it occurred in US waters. A spokesman said other family members were onboard the ship on the same trip, but details about them have not been released.
Mr Manzanares made his first appearance in a federal court in Anchorage via video link from Juneau, where he was being held. A hearing has been scheduled for 10 August.

The Italian is set to give big -money signing Alvaro Morata his first Chelsea start against Inter Milan in a pre -season friendly in Singapore on Saturday and has also splashed out this summer on the defender Antonio Rudiger from Roma and midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco .

Banking dos and don’ts while changing jobs

According to www. business -standard. com , here are the financial issues you need to examine when changing jobs:
1 . Bank accounts
With each new job, you are likely to have a new salary account. However , holding multiple salary accounts is not advisable. When you change jobs, your earlier account gets converted into a regular savings account after three to six months . Typically, banks are supposed to track salary accounts for salary credits during this period. Once converted, you will lose the perks attached to a salary account.
For instance , it will no longer be a zero-balance account and you will have to maintain a minimum average quarterly balance, at par with other savings accounts . Banks will levy charges for non -maintenance . These differ for each bank. You will also have to routinely use the account to keep it active.
According to a Central Bank of Nigeria directive, an account automatically gets classified as inoperative or dormant if there are no customer-induced transactions for a certain period, usually six months.
What to know about your salary account
Many years ago, salaries were paid to employees by cash or through cheque . Payroll department used to be held responsible for calculating salaries, arranging sufficient cash from the finance department , distributing salaries in proper currency denominations and maintaining records. But with the advent of plethora of banking services , the only change that has been brought in the function of the payroll department is that they do not have to arrange for the different denominations of coins and naira notes .
The salaries for all the employees are calculated and a collective sum is transferred to the bank along with the salary sheet . And from there, the bank credits the salary accounts of individual employees.

What is salary account ?
A salary bank account or as simply termed as salary account is nothing much different from a regular bank account wherein your employer credits in the amount due to you as your salary.
What you get in a salary account?
Just like a normal savings account , you will have to fill a form with the bank, according to www . simplypaisa . com . Don’ t worry , it is your employer’ s responsibility to tie up with the banker and arrange for opening your account . However, while filling the form , you will also be required to attach self -attested photocopies of your identify proof , address proof and your passport size photograph . You will be given an account number . In your welcome kit by the bank, you will receive a cheque book, ATM card andPIN number . There are few banks who offer free credit cards with the salary accounts .
Charges of a salary account
Since a salary account has same terms and conditions as what are applicable for a normal savings bank account , it carries the same kind of charges. Though the salary account is a zero balance account, but it converts to a normal savings bank account if the salary in the account has not been transferred by your employer for a consecutive period of three months. The situation, however, differs from one bank to another. But in certain circumstances when your employer can pay salary for some months, the salary account still retains its status with the understanding of the banker.
If your salary account is converted to a savings account for some reasons , other charges of savings bank account will apply throughout like charges on exceeding certain number of transactions , charges on loss of PIN or PIN renewal, ATM charges , SMS charges , etc.
2 . What to do at the time of leaving your organisation?
When you are leaving your organisation, then it becomes important for you to take care of your salary account with the same level of seriousness that you handle your pension account .
In such a situation, you have two choices to make:
Let your salary account continues. It will automatically be converted to a normal savings account . All you need to do is maintain a minimum monthly /quarterly average balance as required by the bank.
If you do not feel the necessity of continuing with the account and expect that you will not be able to maintain the minimum monthly /quarterly average balance, then it is better to take prompt steps to get it closed. This way , you will be able to save yourself from unnecessarily paying penalties . While closing the account , do remember to close all associated accounts with it like term deposit account, etc .
3 . You must inform the bank if you continue your salary account with a new employer
Changing jobs can be a difficult task . Not only does it involve a lot of paperwork before or on the date of joining, many documents also have to be submitted to the new employer. Apart from this , opening a salary account is another important task .
However, if you plan to continue the same salary account with the new employer ( assuming they have the same bank), do not think your work is done by just handing over your account details to your new workplace . The bank, too, has to update the new employer’ s information in its records. How this is done may differ across banks.
Ways to update these records vary across banks . For instance, some bank ask its customers to visit the nearest branch with a letter or email from the corporate ID of the new employer. The text must mention the complete name, account number and state that the customer has joined the company. Some banks ask the customer to submit a government -approved identity document, along with a proof of employment from the new employer . This can be done by getting in touch with the respective bank’ s relationship manager or by going to the nearest branch.
Continuing a salary account usually makes matters easy since you don’ t have to close an account and open a new one. Many people don’ t close their previous accounts , which leads to holding an account unnecessarily. Following a small procedure will help the bank as well as you be served better . However , if you are asked to open an account with a different bank at your new workplace , you must choose between closing the previous salary account and maintaining the minimum required balance . Weigh your needs for multiple accounts and act accordingly.
4 . Transferring your RSA account
You need to handle your Retirement Savings Account domiciled with your Pension Fund Administrator carefully when changing jobs . You need to fill necessary documents to ensure your new employer continues from where the former one stops.
Transferring the account should not take time. It is taken care of by the human resources departments of your previous and current employers.

NHIS boss’ suspension: Reps threaten arrest of Health Minister

ABUJA — For failing to appear before them to clear suspicions on the suspension of Executive Secretary of National Insurance Health Scheme, NHIS, the House of Representatives, yesterday, threatened to issue a warrant of arrest against Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole.
The lawmakers also said there would be no consideration of budget of the NHIS henceforth.

Professor Isaac Adewole
Chairman of the House Committee on Health Services, Chike Okafor, disclosed this after a closed door meeting with members of the committee.
The committee is currently investigating the issue and had demanded that the minister appeared before it.
Okafor said the minister had rather declined the call through a letter, saying: “The House resolution was communicated to the Health Minister and if you look through our proceedings, you will see that we were expecting the minister to come tomorrow (today) to give us an update on the crisis rocking the NHIS.
“But incidentally, I got a letter from him about an hour ago, saying he will not be available to appear before this committee. He gave a couple of reasons, which I would still relate to the committee when we dissolve into an executive session.
“Suffice it to say that the reasons are not acceptable to me. I was going to directthat we send a letter back to him as he claimed in his letter that he has engagements that will take him out of Abuja or that he is already out of Abuja.”

Coca-Cola launches revamped Coke Zero as earnings drop

Coca-Cola announced plans Wednesday to launch a revamped “ Coke Zero” in the United States as it expands offerings of low -sugar and non -carbonated beverages amid flagging demand for sweet sodas .
The soda, “ Coke -Cola Zero Sugar, ” which is already on the market in much of Europe and Latin America , will be available in the US starting in August. The launch comes at a time when more cities around the US have enacted , or are weighing , soda taxes.
Coca-Cola announced the plan as it reported a 60 percent drop in second-quarter profits to $ 1 . 4 billion and a 16 percent decline in revenues to $ 9 . 7 billion. Both were hit by the company ’ s move to offload bottling assets in North America as it leans away from its traditional soda offerings.
Sales volume grew for three of the four beverage categories: juice , dairy and plant-based beverages; water , enhanced water and sports drinks ; and tea and coffee.
But volumes were flat in sparkling drinks .
The results translated into 59 cents per share , a penny above analyst expectations.
Chief executive James Quincey said Coca -Cola ’ s efforts to meet consumer demand for non -sweet and healthier offerings were on track as it transforms itself into a “total beverage company . ”
In addition to scoring increased sales of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar in Europe , Latin America , the Middle East and Africa, the company has launched new orange juice products in China and expanded its “ Innocent” brand of smoothies and premium juices in Western Europe .
Stuart Kronauge , senior vice president of marketing , said the soda giant plans marketing across social media , television, radio and retail around the US launch.

Samsung overtakes Apple, becomes world’s biggest phone maker

Samsung Electronics is now the world’ s largest maker of mobile phones , memory chips and most profitable tech firm , going by its record quarterly earnings released today ,
The figures show that the South Korean tech giant is on course to overtake Apple as the world’ s most profitable tech .
The firm said huge sales of its new Galaxy S 8 smartphone and demand for its memory chips were behind the jump in April -June and predicted another blockbuster report for the current quarter to September.
It said operating profit soared a forecast -beating 72 . 9 percent from the previous year to 14 . 07 trillion won ($ 12 . 6 billion), compared with consensus forecasts of $ 10. 6 billion for US titan Apple, which is due to report next week.
However, Greg Roh , an analyst at HMC Investment Securities, told AFP : “Samsung has surpassed its rivals for now but Apple usually sees little fluctuation in its profits whereas Samsung’ s profits fluctuate largely on memory chip prices. ”
The world’ s top maker of smartphones and memory chips also said net profit surged almost 90 percent to 11 . 05 trillion won, its best quarterly result in five years .
“The S 8 has indeed helped get Samsung back onto its feet, hopefully putting the Note 7 debacle behind it, ” Bryan Ma, a technology industry analyst at IDC , said before the announcement .
“But we also have to keep in mind that a lot of Samsung’ s momentum is from memory and displays too, so it’ s not all about the S 8 , either , ” he said, according to Bloomberg News.
Samsung has been trying to overcome an embarrassing recall last year of its flagship Galaxy Note 7 smartphone over exploding batteries , which cost it billions of dollars and dealt a blow to its reputation .
It has also been buffeted by a scandal that has seen vice -chairman and heir Lee Jae -Yong charged in connection with the sprawling corruption scandal that brought down South Korean president Park Geun -Hye

Man Utd not yet at Barca’s level – Mourinho

Pre-season matches against star-studded Real Madrid and Barcelona were good preparation for the rigours of the Premier League even as they demonstrated the Spanish giants’ superior level , Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho said Wednesday .
With a goal from Brazilian striker Neymar, Barcelona defeated Manchester United 1 -0 on Wednesday , handing the Red Devils the first defeat of their US Tour .
It came on the heels of a penalty shootout victory over Real Madrid after the teams drew 1 -1 in their International Champions Cup friendly match.
In terms of sheer talent, Mourinho acknowledged, Real Madrid and Barcelona have the edge .
“I think at this time, the best players are in these two clubs, ” he said . “We have to accept that as a reality . For us to play against both in a pre -season without any kind of pressure was very good for us .
“Both played with their best team — (it’ s ) very, very good for us to measure against them, ” he said, but added : “There is only one (Lionel) Messi. There is only one Neymar.
“You can work very hard tactically to try to improve your team, but there are players who are special . Even as an opponent on the bench , it’ s great to see their relationship with the ball , ” he said.
In the eyes of Mourinho, only Frenchman Paul Pogba in the United squad “ showed that he had this level ” .
Nevertheless, Mourinho said he departs the US confident that his team have the qualities needed to thrive in the upcoming Premier League campaign .
“We prefer to compare with the teams we play weekly in the Premier League . And we ’ re much more prepared for that very hard competition, which is a competition with a different style, with a different kind of players, ” he said.

It was difficult to get training at first because many tailors thought he could not make clothes without arms. However, Lal was determined and finally found a tailor who trained him.

Within just a year, he became so good at it that he opened his own tailoring shop. Slowly but surely, he won over doubtful clients. His reputation spread quickly and his business has become a success.

Deltans celebrate Nelson Mandela, say he was a worthy African

PROMINENT Deltans, youth corps members and pupils of Mother of Divine Grace Orphanage, converged at Asaba, the Delta State capital to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s Day, describing the former South Africa President as worthy African.
Nelson Mandela

Speaking during the ceremony held at the Nelson Mandela Garden, Asaba, Dr Newton Jibunoh, stressed the need for Africans to render quality service to humanity, adding that; “I have spent a great part of my life building bridges in different parts of the world”.
Jubunor who is the Coordinator of the Mandela Garden, said his determination to honour the anti-apartheid hero led him to Mandela’s grandson, Ndaba, who graciously approved of the project (Mandela Garden) after consulting with his grandfather.
Speaking on the theme of the year’s celebration, ‘Action Against Poverty”, he said “the Garden of 95 Trees is the fifth concept of its kind in the world that extols the ideals of the reverend icon and the well being of the African man; is not just for Africa but for the whole world’’,
Jibunoh, who is the owner of the only private museum in Nigeria, Didi Museum, explained that the reason for focusing on young people this year stemmed from the favourite quote of Mandela, ‘’it is time for the next generation to continue our struggle against social injustice and for the rights of humanity. It is in your hands.’’
Also speaking, former Commissioner for Lands and Survey, Mr Patrick Ferife described Mandela as a geat man, saying that at a young age he (Mandela) had a vision of what he wanted to do.
Ferife said: “He had a vision, he did not look back. Our little ones find it hard to have a vision for themselves. He was so persistence as the whites were even surprised over that’’.

They took our oil for 45 years without giving us basic facilities —Delta community

The leadership of Ojobo, host community to Shell Nigeria Plc in Burutu Council Area of Delta State, has appealed to the oil giant to provide basic amenities for the oil-rich community.

The appeal came during an event to mark a successful community leadership election/swearing-in held about a month ago.
Ojobo had been known for electoral violence over the years.
The newly elected chairman, Chief Etito E. Ekolo, thanked the people of the community for the trust reposed in him and pledged to work hard for the well-being of the community.
Ekolo also pledged to work for peace and unity of the community to ensure that the prevalent electoral violence in the community became a thing of the past.
He decried the plight of the community being an oil producing community for decades without having access to good living conditions and urged Shell, Delta State and the federal government to do justice by providing electricity, potable water and a link road to the community.
In his speech, the traditional ruler of Ojobo, Chief Thompson Brisibe, said that Shell started operations in the community since 1971, saying the community had been struggling for electricity and other amenities since then.
He called on Shell and the federal government to attend to the plight of the people, stressing that the nation had been benefiting from the community’s oil for over 45 years with nothing to show for it.

#LagosLGpolls would be credible in spite of … – Electoral Office

Early morning rain on Saturday prevented many voters from coming out to vote in the Lagos council polls in Eredo and Ikotun/Igando Local Council Development Areas.
Correspondents of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), who monitored the election, report that there was a low turnout of voters at some polling units.
#LagosLGpolls

NAN also observed that there was no presence of security personnel at Ward A Units 2, 7, 8, 10, 16, 18 and 19 in Ilara community as at 9.30 a.m.
However, security men mounted a barricade at the main junction as the Police engaged in stop and search.
An electoral officer in the area attributed the low turnout to the rain, adding that voters may still come out as soon as the rain subsided.
At Ward 037 in Ikotun/Igando LCDA, a few voters, majority of them old people, were at many of the polling units.
Mrs Yemisi Dosunmu, a 57-year- old caterer, said that the apathy by youths was not good for our democracy.
She said it was important for the younger generation to understand the importance of voting.
“I came all the way from Egbe to vote here because this is where I registered when I was living here.
“That is to show you how important this election is to me; our voting age children (youths) need to understand that they
have the power to elect leaders of their choice.
“As citizens, it is an obligation and our vote is the only power we have against bad governance, the power lies with us; we need to educate our youths,’’ she said.
Also, a 43-year-old engineer, Dauda Ojo, told NAN that the poor turnout showed that people lacked the understanding of their
voting power.
“Since I started voting, this turnout is one of the poorest, we cannot achieve much if we keep showing apathy towards the election of office holders,’’ he said.
NAN also reports that some food vendors at Eredo LCDA took advantage of their proximity to the polling units to make brisk business.
Meanwhile, Mr Olusoda Adedeji, the Electoral Officer, Eredo LCDA, has assured that the outcome of the election would be credible in spite of the initial low turnout of voters due to the rainfall.
Adedeji said adequate security and logistics had been put in place in the five wards and 85 units in the area to ensure a hitch-free election with more than 185 personnel deployed for the exercise.

Agbakoba, who said he was saddened by his passing, described him as a compatriot and fighter in the struggle for democracy in Nigeria.
“The news of the death of Dr Onagoruwa is indeed a sad one; he was a personal friend of mine, who played a very crucial role in the struggle for democracy and had come across very turbulent times.
“For us in the legal profession this is indeed a sad loss, but like I always say in situations like this, it is the will of God to recall
people.
“It is indeed a sad loss, but certainly the will of God,” he said in Lagos.
For Falana (SAN), Onagoruwa was a liberal and an upright man, who lived for justice, equity and law and order.
He said: “Dr Olu Onagoruwa was a liberal lawyer, who believed in the bourgeois concept of the rule of law.
“When the late Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) and I were detained on several occasions by the military government, he always challenged our detention in court.
“His principled commitment to the defence of the rule of law made him to clash with the legal establishment, and at the time the system reluctantly admitted him to the inner bar, he had called it quits with the legal practice.
“He was convinced that a fascist and corrupt system (late Gen. Sani Abacha’s dictatorship) could be reformed from within; so, he accepted to be Attorney-General and Minister

Senate to fast track creation of autonomous

A Bill which aims to separate the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) scaled first reading in the Senate Thursday.
This is coming less than twenty four hours after the upper chamber raised the alarm over the suspension of Nigeria by the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Unit.
The Bill, sponsored by the Chairman, Senate Committee on Anti-Corruption, Senator Chukwuka Utazi (Enugu North) seeks to create autonomous NFIU for the country which will not be domiciled in the EFCC.
The move to create an independent NFIU is line with the demand of the Egmont Group of Financial Intelligence Unit which had given the country December 2017 deadline to comply or risk expulsion from the group.
The Senate had on Wednesday debated the suspension of Nigeria from the Egmont Group for failing to grant autonomy to the NFIU.
The upper chamber declared its intention to give accelerated hearing to the Bill to ensure that the NFIU becomes independent before the December 2017 deadline given by Egmont Group.

Shortly after the Bill scaled first reading, Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, directed the Business and Rules Committee to ensure that the Bill was scheduled for Second Reading on Tuesday next week.
Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi told reporters that the Senate does not want anybody to doubt the supportive role of the upper chamber to the fight against corruption in the country.
The Senate Abdullahi said, has its own input to make to ensure the success of the anti-graft war.
He noted that for any anti-graft agency to succeed in its task, it must share intelligence report with sister agencies in the world.
He said, “Our worry is that Nigeria was suspended from the Egmont Group basically because NFIU has not been granted autonomy and still domiciled in EFCC. The essence of it is that in sharing intelligence, there are protocols that must be respected. The Senate is committed to ensuring that the right thing is always done. We must be proactive. If you strengthen the NFIU you are strengthening other intelligence units in the country.”
