[BREAKING] Senate indicts CBN over MTN’s alleged $13.9bn repatriation

The Senate has blamed the Central Bank of Nigeria in its investigation of the alleged illegal repatriation of $ 13. 9 bn by the telecommunication giant, MTN .
Adopting the report by the Committee on Banking , Insurance and Other Financial Institutions on the probe at the plenary on Wednesday , the Senate accused the CBN of laxity , leading to sharp practices by commercial banks.
The chamber had, in October 2016, begun a probe into the allegation that MTN illegally transferred a total sum of $ 13. 9 bn from Nigeria to other countries between 2006 and 2016.
The Senate panel had summoned the CBN, MTN management, the Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria , three commercial banks and some businessmen over alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange ( Monitoring and Miscellaneous ) Act to a public hearing where they made counter-claims.
The recommendations by the panel were unanimously approved by the lawmakers .
They include , to “condemn the Central Bank of Nigeria for failing in its duty to bring forth those observed deficiencies of FEMMA for amendment rather than granting extensions and exemptions , which became prone to abuses .
“Mandate the CBN to sanction Stanbic IBTC for improper documentations in respect of capital repatriation and loan repayments amounting to $ 388, 195 , 183 and $ 199, 440 , 952:07 , respectively.
“Mandate the CBN to sanction the activities of Stanbic IBTC Nominees in the matter of shares transfer and splitting for the purpose of dividend repatriation.
“Mandate the CBN to come up with a proposal for the amendment of FEMMA, with a view to ensuring the growth of the economy through massive foreign capital inflow and greater retention of foreign exchange . The amendment is still ongoing in the Senate.

5 Strange Reasons Some Men Want A Full House Wife

1. Women lose respect easily : Most men are of the opinion that women shouldn't be allowed to make money as they do as most women grow wings when they can claim that they toil to make their own money.
They feel they become arrogant when they are also earning to the point of seeing them the man as minor all because they are also financially involved in running of the home.
2. Race to remain the head : Many men are of the opinion that as the head there are things they must do to remain relevant.
Providing the resources should be their sole duty, hence, it should be a no go area for a woman as they should be in the kitchen and to take care of the children not just when they(the man) are away but at all times.
3. Fear of the effect of exposure : This is common among men that are promiscuous. They know that when their woman mingles with others, especially men, there is possibility of them having admirers who can become a fierce rival.
They know that when some men are determined to get a woman they can do everything humanly possible to get them, possibly because they think some women cannot hold their feelings and decisions.
They trust women less because of what they have done to other ladies out there, hence, it becomes uneasy for them to trust and let their woman work too.
4. They see it as the only way to show love: Some men feels the only way to win a woman completely is to make her sit all at home 24/7. They believe so much in giving her every thing she needs that will not make her even think of setting up a business let alone looking for job.
When she wants sanitary pad during her period or any other thing she should just take from the one given to her or ask at any point in time.

Evra red-carded before game for karate kick on own fan

Marseille defender Patrice Evra was sent off after launching a karate-style kick at one of his team’ s own supporters before Thursday’ s Europa League match against Vitoria Guimaraes.
Evra, 36 , was engaged in a heated exchange with a group of fans from an area reserved for around 500 Marseille supporters in Portugal before aiming a head -high kick with his left foot at one of them .
Some Marseille fans had managed to get out of their section of the stands and force their way to the touchline barriers where they harangued Evra at close contact as the French international warmed up before kick -off.
Stewards at the ground quickly intervened to break up the trouble , with Evra, who was originally listed as a substitute, ordered to return to the dressing room by the referee.
“Pat has experience , and he must not react, it’ s obvious , ” said Marseille coach Rudi Garcia whose side lost the game 1 -0 and also had Boubacar Kamara sent off three minutes from time.
“Patrice is a more than just an experienced player. You can’ t respond, of course , to insults as bad as they are and as incredible as they might be because they come from one of our supporters. ”
“He must learn to keep his cool . That’ s all I can say. ”
Garcia, however, blasted the fan who taunted the 81 -times capped Evra at the compact Portuguese stadium .
“He ’ s not a supporter of Marseille because you can’ t insult your own players , you have to be behind all of us . ”
The incident immediately brought back memories of another act of kung-fu kick madness by a French footballer.
In January 1995 , Eric Cantona, playing for Manchester United, launched a flying kick at a Crystal Palace supporter at Selhurst Park who had jeered him after he had been sent off .
Cantona’ s assault led to a nine -month ban handed down by the English Football Association.
According to football statisticians Opta on Thursday: “Patrice Evra is the first player to be sent off before the start of a match in the history of the Europa League” .
Europe’ s second-tier tournament replaced the UEFA Cup for the 2009-2010 season .
Evra, also a former Manchester United star, has received heavy criticism for his performances this season and lost his place in the team to on-loan Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi .
